Young man who was the victim of an assault in Navan has died

A teenager who was the victim of an assault in Navan over three weeks ago has died, Gardai have confirmed.

In a statement this evening, Gardaí said they "continue to investigate an incident of assault that occurred at a business premises on Watergate Street, Navan, Co. Meath on Sunday 21st June 2026 at approximately 1:15 am."

"An adult male in his late teens suffered serious injuries during the incident and was conveyed to Drogheda Hospital and subsequently Beaumont Hospital for treatment. He was pronounced deceased yesterday, Wednesday 15th July 2026.

"A post-mortem examination has been completed. The results of this post-mortem examination are not being released for operational reasons.

"As part of the investigation into this assault, a male (aged in his 30s) was arrested and detained. He was charged and appeared before Navan District Court on the 26th of June 2026 in connection with this Serious Assault and is currently remanded to appear before Trim District Court on the 28th July 2026.
