Motorcyclist seriously injured after being struck by stolen 4x4, four juvenile teens arrested
A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after being struck by stolen 4x4 in Co Carlow. Four juvenile teens were arrested at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the road traffic collision at Graiguecullen, Co Carlow yesterday morning, (Wednesday 8th July 2026).
Gardai received report of the theft of a black Ford Ranger pick up truck in the Rathcoole area of Co. Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
At approximately 7:35am, the stolen vehicle was located travelling on Chaff Street, Graiguecullen, Co. Carlow, by Gardaí on mobile patrol.
The vehicle left the scene and collided with another car and a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 30s, was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Four male juvenile teens were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Garda stations in Co. Carlow.
The road was closed for examination and has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
Gardai have referred this incident to Fiosru due to the vehicle involved being subject of an unauthorised taking investigation.
