Tones falter as Ratoath maintain 100% record

Wolfe Tones’ unbeaten run in the FL Div 1 came to an end last Monday when Summerhill overturned a five-point deficit in the final quarter and sealed the victory. After some good shooting from the likes of Cian O’Neill, Caolan Ward and Saran O Fionnagain, Wolfe Tones led by 0-17 to 0-12 with 15 mintes remaining. However, Summerhill finished strong and scored four two-pointers which knocked the league leaders off their perch.

Ratoath maintained their 100 % record in the FL Div 1 league with a hard-earned victory over St Peter’s. Wolfe Tones defeat to Summerhill means that Kevin Daly’s side sit atop the league table by themselves with only two rounds of fixtures left to fulfil. St Peter’s made the visitors work hard for the victory as Sean Delaney’s goal in the second-half kept them in touch. It was St Peter’s fifth loss in a row in the league and they will be hoping that they can avoid potential relegation with positive results in their final two games.

Moynalvey earned a very important share of the spoils with Donaghmore/Ashbourne as they look to esapce relegation from the FL Div 1. The only current non-senior side in the division currently sit bottom but are still within two points of four teams above them in the league. This contest had a very dramatic conclusion. The home side led by two points before Donaghmore Ashbourne edged ahead with a third goal. Adam Murphy put Moynalvey back in front with a late two-pointer before the visitors secured an equaliser.

Eoghan Nugent’s goal proved decisive for Navan O’Mahonys as they got the better of Simonstown in this tight FL Div 2 encounter which doubled up as the Seamus Heaney Cup. Eoghan Nugent’s goal came midwy through the second-half and while Simonstown did battle their way back into the contest, three points in the last quarterfrom Cormac Nigent was crucial in getting the Brews Hill side over the line.

Meath Hill 1-16
Seneschalstown’s strong second and third quarter helped them earn a draw with Meath Hill after they made a slow start to this FL Div 2 encounter. The home side raced into a 0-9 to 0-2 lead before Seneschalstown seized momentum and outscored their opponents 0-12 to 0-2 lead after 37 minutes. Meath Hill scored a goal at the start of the final quarter and with five minutes left it was the north Meath side who led by three. A two-pointer from Dylan Keating and a late free from Eoghan Finnegan secured a share of the soils for the visitors.
