Cars should be locked when unattended

Garda warning drivers to lock vehicles at all times

Gardai in Meath are warning motorists not to leave their cars unlocked, after a number of thefts of vehicles were reported to local statiions.

"In the past month Gardaí in Meath have dealt with four cases of thefts from cars which were unlocked. Three of the incidents occurred in Trim and one in Navan. Approximately €700 worth of property was stolen in these incidents," said a Garda spokesperson on the Meath Crime Prevention page.

"If you don’t lock your car you are making life very simple and easy for thieves. Car owners should also be aware that Insurance companies are unlikely to cover loss where unattended vehicles are left unlocked."
