There was a short but dramatic thunder and lightning storm over the county last night and eagle-eyed weather watchers were quick to grab their cameras and phones to record the event.

Thunder erupted over Navan and the surrounding areas just after 11pm with lightning illuminating the night sky with a heavy downpour breaking days of hot and dry weather.
