Doris downs Farrell to take Trim title

Stephen Doris claimed the St Patrick's Trim Snooker Championship title following a thrilling final victory over Joey Farrell and in doing so scooped the club's inaugiural Player of the Year award.

In a hugely enjoyable and high quality final Doris had to win to drag the POTY award away from the tight grip that Nigel Rennicks appeared to have on the trophy.

Doris took all the glory by defeating Farrell 4-2 in a pulsating contest.

The final was a game of two halves. Farrell was in devastating form from the first break and got stuck into the pack on his second visit to the table, as he knocked in a brilliant 37 break during this visit.

He also hit another good break to leave Dorisneeding snookers on the yellow ball. The second frame followed a very similar line to the first with Farrell getting in early and making very good breaks to again leave Doris needing snookers on the green ball.

Doris then got into gear in the third frame and took it with a very good colour clearance. The fourth frame also went to Doris to make it 2-2.

Doris took the fifth frame but was saving his best snooker for the sixth where he rattled in his highest ever break, a brilliant 42, and put himself in a very strong position to take the prestigious Club Championship Trophy.

Farrell battled hard to try and get back into the frame and match but he he fell short as Doris rattled in the colours to take the sixth frame and the match.
