Gardai followed motorist suspected of drink driving

The driver of a car that Garda followed out of Navan was breath tested and found to be over the alcohol legal limit.

As a result Alexandru Iacob with an address at Bailis Village, Johnstown Navan was prosecuted for driving at Metges Road, Johnstown with in excess of breath/alcohol limit. He was convicted and fined €300. The 35 year-old was also banned from driving for two years.

Trim District Court heard that the garda observed the defendant’s car reverse out of a car parking space and pursued and stopped it on November 2 last year.

There was a strong smell of alcohol from the car as a Garda spoke to the defendant. He provided a breath specimen that on analysis revealed the defendant had a concentration of alcohol of 66mg with the limit 22mg.
