Navan RFC hosts spectacular Girls Schools Blitz!

Criag Williamson

Balreask Old was buzzing late last week as we played host to a high-energy first and second year Girls Tag Rugby Blitz. With the sun shining and the pitches in prime condition, it was a fantastic showcase of the growing talent in the region.

The numbers tell the story of a thriving game: 6 schools represented by over 100 students, all displaying incredible footwork, teamwork, and most importantly plenty of smiles!

Schools in Action

A massive well done to all the participants who represented their jerseys with pride. Among the schools taking part were:

Loreto Secondary School, Navan

● St. Michael's Loreto, Navan

● St. Joseph's Mercy Secondary School, Navan

● Coláiste Na Mí

The skill level on display was exceptional, proving that the future of women’s rugby in Navan is in very safe (and very fast) hands!

Caught the Rugby Bug?

Gratitude

A sincere thank you to all six participating schools for making the effort to attend and to the students for their exemplary sportsmanship.

Special credit goes to the Leinster Rugby CCROs for their hard work in facilitating the day and ensuring everything ran like clockwork. We can't wait to see many of these faces back on our pitches on Tuesday night!

'Navan’t A Clue' team make History at Kinsale Rugby 7s!

While the 15-a-side season might be winding down, the action certainly isn't! This past weekend, a group of our senior women headed south to Cork to represent the club at the Kinsale Rugby 7s Festival.

Competing under the brilliant (and very honest) moniker 'Navan't A Clue,' it marked the first time a team from Balreask Old has made the pilgrimage to one of the biggest 7s tournaments in Europe. Judging by the performances on and off the pitch, it certainly won’t be the last!

The girls didn't just go for the sunshine; they brought some serious game to the group stages. After a busy Day 1 and as is custom at Kinsale, plenty of "tactical hydration," the team finished the group phase as the #1 seeds following two dominant wins.

Returning on Sunday for the knockout stages, "Navan't A Clue" looked clinical in the quarter-finals, seeing off the 8th-ranked Trynamytes. Their maiden voyage eventually came to an end in the semi-finals, bowing out after a fantastic run that saw them punch well above their weight for a debut appearance.

A trip of this magnitude, and those sharp new jerseys, wouldn’t have been possible without our generous team sponsor. A massive thank you to Straight4Media & ProjectMotorRacing for making the trip happen and ensuring the girls looked the part on the pitch.

To the squad: congratulations on a historic first trip. You represented Navan RFC with skill and spirit.

Strong Representation in North-East U17 Girls Summer Squad

A huge congratulations to all players selected on the Leinster North-East U17 Girls Summer squad, with Navan RFC proudly contributing an outstanding 11 players.
