Dunboyne baritone selected for RTÉ lyric fm ‘New Generation Voices’

Dunboyne baritone Seán Boylan has been selected as one of Ireland’s rising vocal talents for a special RTÉ lyric fm anniversary broadcast this week.

The station is marking its 27th anniversary with New Generation Voices, an initiative in association with the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, which highlights emerging singers identified as ones to watch.

Boylan, who is the son of former Meath manager Seán Boylan, was among five performers selected for the programme.

Each singer was given the opportunity to record an aria with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra under conductor Gavin Maloney.

The recordings will be broadcast across the station’s schedule on Friday, beginning on Marty in the Morning and continuing throughout the day.

Boylan will perform Avant de quitter ces lieux by Gounod during the morning programme.

The initiative aims to support and showcase emerging Irish vocal talent while providing performers with the opportunity to collaborate with a professional orchestra and reach a national audience.

Also selected for this year’s New Generation Voices are tenor Patrick Hyland (Kildare), tenor Cathal McCabe (Dublin), tenor Seán Tester (Louth) and soprano Deirdre Higgins (Offaly).
