All-Ireland success for Meath handballers
It proved to be a rewarding weekend for Meath handballers at the All-Ireland finals, with two titles secured and another final appearance capping off a strong overall showing.
Michael and Tom Sheridan set the tone early with an impressive win in the Golden Masters doubles final.
Having travelled to Limerick on Thursday evening, they showed little sign of fatigue as they delivered a controlled and efficient performance against the home side.
The Meath pair took command from the outset and maintained that standard throughout, recording a comprehensive 21–9, 21–5 victory.
Their understanding and experience as a partnership was evident, and the result sees them add yet another All-Ireland title to an astonishing record.
On Sunday morning in Croke Park, Joy Walsh and Sinead Forde ensured further success for Meath with victory in the Ladies Junior B doubles final.
Facing Cork, they made a strong start in both games and were able to keep their opponents at arm’s length throughout.
Their consistency and composure proved key, as they closed out the match on a 21–11, 21–13 scoreline to secure the title.
There was disappointment for Christy McGovern and Joe Lynch in the Emerald Masters final on Saturday, where they came up short against Tyrone. However, their journey to the decider was notable, particularly a hard-fought semi-final win over Mayo which highlighted their determination and ability to perform under pressure.
