Gallery: Sunshine celebration for pharmacy re-opening in Oldcastle

Oldcastle's Cogan Street was the scene of a great celebration on Friday as McQuaid's Pharmacy was formally opened in its new premises following an arson attack last December which had destroyed the previous shop.

The opening was done by Noeline Dunne, nee Mullen, daughter of Patrick Mullen who had first opened the premises exactly 110 years earlier.

Clare Fitzell, secretary general of the Irish Pharmacy Union, spoke to congratulate pharmacist Donna McQuaid and her team, and said that the importance of community pharmacies was emphasised very strongly by the support shown by the people of Oldcastle.

Once the formalities were over, the crowd enjoyed refreshments and most especially the ice-cream provided, ideal for the warmest day of the year so far!

Everyone present was delighted to see the pharmacy in its new home, and Donna and her team were swamped with cards, gifts and hugs as Oldcastle came together to celebrate.
