Meath petrol stations facing long queues on fourth day of protests

Meath’s petrol stations have been seeing long queues in the morning, during lunch breaks, and after work in the evening as commuters rush to get fuel with at least one station completely out of fuel.

Go Dunshaughlin, Top Oil Bective Service, and Applegreen Mullaghboy, Navan petrol stations are just a few of those seeing long queues at the pump as fuel protests are ongoing. Stations have also reportedly started to put a caps on fuel sales, including Millbrook Motors in Oldcastle putting in a €20 limit.

Protests have now entered its fourth day with protesters blocking access to key routes and supply points including Ireland’s only oil refinery at Whitegate in Cork.

The Government is to meet with representative groups of farmers, agricultural contractors and the haulage industry later today. Representatives of fuel protestors have not confirmed their attendance but representative James Geoghegan said they would join a meeting of farmers' groups with Government.

Mr Geoghegan said they want the carbon tax on green diesel to be removed and the price of fuel to be capped.
