Trim father of three engaged in ‘horrendous behaviour’ - Judge
A FATHER of three engaged in what Judge Eirinn McKiernan described as “horrendous behaviour.”
This was after Gardai heard of a male lying unresponsive on the footpath after an incident on 9th July 2022 at Watergate Street, Navan.
Trim District Court heard Jonathon Meehan (48), of Butterstream Manor, Trim was bleeding from the ear and became aggressive to the emergency personnel and threatened to knock out the jaw of a Garda member.
When Mr Meehan arrived at the Garda Station he defecated in a cell and said to a female Garda “you can clear that up little girl.” He also said to a colleague that he would burn his house down with his kids in it.
Mr Meehan had two previous convictions for intoxication in December 2024, and no insurance years before.
Solicitor Miriam Regan told the court that her client was “mortified” by his behaviour and he had no recollection of what happened that night.
He paid for the damage and had made a full and open apology to the Garda. He hadn’t come to adverse attention since.
Judge McKiernan asked the Garda had she a specific charity, and she replied “ Little Blue Heroes.”
The Judge told the defendant if he wanted to avoid a conviction she required him to pay €750 to the charity and gave him until 15th June to pay.
