Carer stole from woman’s home

A CARER who admitted stealing €150 from a woman’s home was in financial difficulty, a Judge heard.

Her barrister told Trim District Court on Tuesday that there was €150 compensation available to cover the loss.

It was stated that Carol Monaghan of Caulstown, Dunboyne stole separate sums on two different dates early last year. She took €50 cash on a visit to the victim’s home on 15th February. The larceny was subsequently reported by the victim’s daughter.

She committed the second theft of €100 on 25th February.

Barrister James O’Brien explained the defendant was separated from her partner and with very limited money. She appreciated it was a very serious matter.

Judge Eirinn McKiernan adjourned the case to 12th May to obtain a restorative justice report.
