Driver going 102km/h in a 80km/h zone in Enfield during Easter weekend
A driver was found going 102km/h in a 80km/h zone in Enfield last weekend when Gardai were conducting a roads policing operation across the Easter weekend.
This operation took place between 7am on Thursday, 2nd April until 7am morning on Tuesday 7th April to ensure road safety during the bank holiday.
During this period, there were three fatalities on our roads, and five serious injury collisions.
Over 175 drivers were detected for intoxicated driving and more than of 4,000 drivers were detected for speeding during the operation. This includes a driver going 102km/h in a 80km/h zone on R148, Kilmurry, Enfield.
Other notable speeds detected include a driver going 138 km/h in a 50km/hr zone on Cashel Road, Cahir, Tipperary and 147 km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N11, Newcastle, Co. Wicklow.
Fix charged notices were issued for other road offences during this period including over 290 for driving while using a mobile phone and more than 95 for not wearing a seatbelt.

An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to all road users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to slow down and to always choose a speed that is appropriate to the driving conditions, to wear your seatbelt and keep your eyes always on the road.
