Storm Dave set to batter country with over 100kmph winds
Yellow wind in force from 1pm (Saturday, April 4) until 2am Sunday (April 5).
The region is bracing for a blustery Easter weekend as Storm Dave barrels in, bringing gusts of over 100kmph, heavy rain, and potentially dangerous conditions roads across Co Meath.
A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued by Met Eireann, in force from 1pm this afternoon (Saturday, April 4) until 2am tomorrow (Sunday, April 5), urging road users and communities to exercise extreme caution if going out.
Heavy rain will accompany the gusts, though forecasters say the downpours will be less severe than the winds. Still, spot flooding is possible, especially in low-lying areas.
The UK Met Office has mirrored the warning for six Northern Ireland counties, forecasting very strong winds from 2pm on Saturday through to 3am on Sunday, which again could cause damage and travel disruption.
Storm Dave is the fourth named storm of the season and is expected to dominate the Easter weekend, with this province in particular expected to see a mix of rain, sleet on higher ground, and gusty winds reaching their peak Saturday afternoon.
By Sunday, conditions are expected to have eased slightly, bringing brighter spells but still remaining breezy, with temperatures struggling to reach 10°C.
Meteorologists predict unsettled conditions will persist into next week, with further winds, rain, and occasional sunny intervals.
