Cat on a wet Trim roof... Moggy's five day ordeal on top of Kiely's pub

A five-day ordeal for a cat that was stuck on the roof of Kiely's pub in Trim came to an end on Sunday after the local fire service came to the rescue. Several appeals were made on social media for help getting the cat down from the flat roof of the three storey building.

Pub owner John Kiely had outlined in a Facebook post that he became aware of the cat last Thursday and had made contact with the fire service but had been told by the 999 call taker that the fire brigade do not come out to rescue cats and to contact the DCSPA, which he tried to do but didn't manage to get anyone on the phone despite several attempts.

The cat's plight had also been shared on the Last Hope Animal Charity's Facebook page and in a subsequent update on the rescue, the animal charity thanked the many members of the concerned public who contacted the Fire Brigade to look for help and thanked Trim Fire Brigade who answered the concerned calls of the public and went to the cat's rescue.

Pub owner John Kiely also thanked Trim Fire Service for coming to the aid of the cat in a Facebook post writing: "I would like to thank Trim Fire Station for coming out to get the cat down."
