Pedestrian crossing for Carlanstown
A new predestrian crossing is expected to be erected in Carlanstown this summer.
At a meeting of Kells Municipal Council last week Senior Engineer, Nicholas Wyatt, said they had looked at two locations for a pedestrian crossing and associated ramps.
"We have spoken to some of the the affected parties and I want to thank Cllr Sean Drew and Cllr Eugene Cassidy for facilitating that.
"We have settled on a preferred route. As you know, it is on a national road so there is a process now where we have to design the project and finalise agreement with landowners, it has been fairly positive to date."
He said they have chosen a location for the pedestrian crossing on the Ardee side of the Centra shop and would include negotiations and design.
"We are looking it have it installed this summer," he said.
Cllr Eugene Cassidy said this was something they were looking for, for a long, long time. "It is good landowners have engaging with us with a positive attitude and it is good that the council and residents have worked together delivering something that is badly needed," he said.
