Sent forward for trial following fatal road incident
A 42-year-old man with a Polish address who is charged concerning a fatal road incident last September has been returned for trial.
Piotr Broniarczyk, with an address at Wrzesnia, Gnieznienska, Poland was sent forward to the next sitting of Trim Circuit Criminal Court on 27th January. He is accused of trying to escape civil or criminal liability.
He is alleged to have been the driver of a vehicle involved in causing injury to 81-year-old man Edward McLoughlin, Doolistown, Trim on 12th September 2025 at R156 Batterstown, Boardsmill, Trim.
Sergeant Eoin Treacy told Trim District Court on Tuesday that he had served a copy of the book of evidence on the accused.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan acceded to a request by barrister Niall Gallagher on account of the very serious charge to assign a second counsel in the case under the legal aid scheme. She made an order for production of copies of interviews, and remanded the accused on bail.
