Welcome to the world... Meath parents welcome New Year Babies

The first New Year baby born in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda was Baby Mustafa, born to proud mum , Ifrah Mir from Navan.

Baby Mustafa weighed in at 7.2lbs at 02.29 under the care of the Maternity Unit at OLOL which included Laura Henry (RN), Caroline O'Brien (Catering), Maria McNamee (RN), Pamela McElroy (RN), mum Ifrah Mir with Baby Mustafa, Molly Newman (RN), Darville Burke (RN), Catriona O'Reilly (IBCLC) and Janet Fay (HCA).

Among the first babies of 2026 was a baby girl, weighing 8lb 2oz, arrived after 1am to Eanna Rennicks and Sean Tobin from Navan, Co Meath at the Rotunda Hospital.

Baby Elliott was born at 35 second past midnight, weighing 8lb 1oz to parents Rachel and Adam Deak, from Rathnew, Co Wicklow.

After Elliott's rapid entrance into 2026, baby Laso, weighing 6lb 5oz, was born at 1.11am to parents Zilan Aziz and Halo Mohammed, from Dublin.

RTE also reported that Baby Millie Elizabeth Kelleher came into the world at 40 seconds past midnight at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin.

Millie, weighing 6lb 6oz, was born to parents Sally and John Kelleher, from Naas Co Kildare.

Five babies were born at the National Maternity Hospital between midnight and 11am.

Baby Kash Burke was also one of the first babies born in 2026, arriving at just two minutes past midnight at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin.

Kash, weighing 8lb 5oz, is a second son for Rebecca and Keane from Dublin 8, and welcomed by big brother Klay.

In what was a busy start to the New Year at the hospital, baby Leo was born at 12.05am and weighing 8lb 1oz. He is the first child for Danielle McNamee and dad, Troy, who are from Lucan.

A baby girl weighing 6lb 13oz followed the boys into the world at 12.06am.

Baby Anjali who arrived at 12.06am, is the second child for Ranjitha Sivakumar, who is from Dublin.

At Cork University Maternity Hospital, a baby girl called Frances O'Keeffe was born at 3.41am to parents Victoria Irwin and Cirroc O'Keefe.
