Minister Dara Callearly made the announcement on Clare Island last week

€400k upgrade for Ratoath riverwalk

€400,000 has been provided for the upgrade and extension of the Broadmeadow Riverwalk in Ratoath. €200,000 will be used to extend the riverwalk, with a further €200,000 allocated for upgrading the existing pathway.

The funding forms part of a nationwide €16.5 million investment announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, to support 63 outdoor recreation projects across Ireland through the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS). The scheme provides funding for the repair, maintenance, and development of new recreational infrastructure, including walking and cycling trails, mountain access projects, and water-based amenities.

Speaking about the announcement, Minister Calleary said: “I am delighted to make this significant funding announcement today for outdoor recreational facilities. This investment will further enhance these spaces, which act as both recreational and social hubs for local communities and also add greatly to our tourism sector.”
