Gardai anticipate rolling road closures into Dublin over busy weekend

Gardai are advising people travelling to Dublin this weekend to plan their journeys and anticipate rolling road closures which will have a likely effect on public transport as a number of major events take place.

There is expected to be more people in the city this weekend which will mean public transport and the roads will be busier.

An Garda Síochána said they will have its full traffic management plan in place to keep the traffic disruption to a minimum. Garda will be assisting security at a number of events this weekend, including three concerts in Phoenix Park, the British and Irish Lions v Argentina game at the Aviva Stadium, four GAA matches in Croke Park, the ‘Kindfishr’ concert in Fairview Park, and two planned public gatherings.

"This weekend is packed with lots of activity and with the summer weather also looking promising, we look forward to helping to welcome thousands of people into Dublin to make the most of their weekend,” Said Assistant Commissioner for Dublin Paul Cleary said ahead of this weekend’s events.

“We want you to enjoy yourselves if socialising or attending any one of the exciting sporting and music events happening in the city, but to please be mindful of others and how your behaviour may impact their experience.

“Should you feel unsafe or need our assistance in any way over the weekend, please contact us or stop anyone of us on our high-visibility patrols across the city, and in an emergency or immediate danger always dial 999/112.”

Where required, updates across the weekend will be available on Garda social media channels including @GardaTraffic on X, formerly Twitter.
