Navan RFC Women’s 1st XV produced a dominant display to defeat Balbriggan RFC 44–5 in

the quarter-final of the Leinster Paul Flood Women's Cup at Balreask Old on Sunday.

Running in eight tries, Navan showcased their attacking strength and depth to secure a comprehensive victory and book their place in the semi-finals.

From the outset, Navan set the tone with high tempo play and strong physicality, consistently breaking down the Balbriggan defence. Their ability to move the ball efficiently and capitalise on scoring opportunities proved the difference, as they built a commanding lead.

Despite Balbriggan’s efforts, Navan remained in control throughout, combining solid defensive work with clinical finishing to maintain their dominance across the 80 minutes.

Lauren Fitzpatrick delivered an outstanding performance, earning Player of the Match honours, sponsored by “The Central”.

The result sees Navan advance to a semi-final clash away to New Ross RFC next weekend, as they continue their pursuit of silverware in the competition.

Navan RFC Women’s 2nd XV exited the Leinster Paul Cusack Women's Cup at the second-round stage following a 32–14 defeat away to MU Barnhall RFC on Sunday.

In a competitive encounter, the home side proved clinical in attack, outscoring Navan by six tries to two to secure progression in the competition.

Navan battled throughout and showed resilience in patches, but Barnhall’s ability to convert opportunities ultimately proved decisive.

Despite the result, there were positives for Navan, with Róisín Watters delivering a standout performance to earn Player of the Match, sponsored by “The Central”.

Attention now turns to the Leinster Paul Cusack Women's Plate, where Navan has an immediate opportunity to respond. They will host Clondalkin RFC in a home semi-final at Balreask Old, with a 1pm kick-off.

With silverware still within reach, Navan will look to regroup and carry momentum into the Plate competition.

Navan RFC Women’s 3rd XV saw their season come to a close following a 31–7 defeat to West Offaly Lions in the opening round of the Leinster Division 5/6 Women's Plate at Balreask Old on Sunday.

Facing a well-organised and clinical opposition, Navan worked hard throughout but were unable to match the visitors’ scoring efficiency, with West Offaly Lions crossing for multiple tries to take control of the contest.

Despite the result, Navan showed determination and commitment across the pitch, continuing to compete until the final whistle and reflecting the progress made by the squad over the course of the season.

Niamh Callaghan delivered an excellent individual performance and was named Player of the Match, sponsored by “The Central”.

While the defeat brings the campaign to an end, the team can take plenty of positives from their efforts and development, laying strong foundations to build on for next season.

Leinster Youth Boys U17 Premier League/North-East U17 Cup - Semi-Final

Navan RFC Under 17 Boys booked their place in the finals of the Leinster Youth Boys U17

Premier League and North-East Cup with a 34–21 victory over Boyne in a high-quality semi-final at Balreask Old on Saturday.

In a fixture that doubled as both a Leinster & North-East semi-final, Navan delivered an outstanding first-half performance, setting a relentless tempo through aggressive defence and powerful ball carrying. Dominating possession and territory, they built a commanding lead and left Boyne with a significant deficit to overcome at the break.

Boyne responded strongly in the second half, raising their intensity and taking advantage of key opportunities to mount a sustained comeback. The visitors narrowed the gap and put Navan under real pressure in a demanding spell.

However, Navan showed impressive composure and resilience when it mattered most.

Regaining control in key moments, they managed the game effectively and added crucial scores to seal a deserved victory.

It was a tough and hard-fought contest, with Navan’s clinical first-half display proving decisive, while their ability to withstand Boyne’s resurgence highlighted the squad’s character in a winner-takes-all encounter.

Navan now advance to face Ashbourne RFC in an all-Meath North-East final, with details yet to be confirmed. They also await the outcome of the other Leinster semi-final between Tullow and Wicklow

Navan RFC Under 15 Boys were crowned champions of the Leinster North-East Under 15 Boys Plate following a hard-fought 24–19 victory over local rivals Boyne RFC at Balreask Old on Sunday.

In a closely contested final, Navan edged the encounter by scoring four tries to Boyne’s three, underlining their clinical finishing in key moments.

The match was played at a high intensity throughout, with both sides trading scores in a competitive derby atmosphere. Navan, however, showed composure when it mattered most, capitalising on their opportunities to build a narrow but decisive advantage.

Boyne pushed hard in the closing stages, but Navan’s resilience and defensive effort ensured they held on to secure the title on home soil.

It was a deserved reward for the squad’s efforts over the course of the campaign, with the players delivering a strong team performance to lift silverware.

The victory marks a significant achievement for this talented group, highlighting the continued strength of Navan RFC’s youth pathway.

Navan RFC Under 14 Girls secured their place in the final of Leinster U14 Girls Division 2 with an impressive 30–5 victory over the Rhinos at Balreask Old on Saturday.

Navan made a flying start, with Finley Clarke powering over in the corner for her first try for the club, finishing a determined run through heavy traffic. The hosts quickly built on that momentum, with Leah McLoughlin adding a second try following a strong break from midfield.

The Rhinos responded with a well-taken breakaway try to reduce the deficit to 10–5, but Navan remained firmly in control for the remainder of the contest.

Further tries from Aoibheann Fletcher and a brace from Róisín Regan extended Navan’s lead, capping off a dominant attacking display.

A special mention goes to Eve Graham, who made a welcome return after a serious pre-season injury. Coming off the bench, she contributed five valuable points with a penalty and a conversion, marking an excellent comeback performance.

This was a confident and composed display from Navan, who now look ahead to the league final against Gorey, scheduled for Sunday 26th April in Naas.

Under 12 Boys

Navan RFC Under 12 Boys brought their domestic minis season to a close in style with an impressive away performance against Virginia RFC on Sunday.

In their final game on Irish soil this season, the squad produced an exciting brand of rugby, showcasing their ability to play with width, offload in contact and keep the ball alive. Despite facing a physically bigger opposition, Navan demonstrated outstanding tackling and determination throughout.

Their defensive effort matched their attacking intent, with the team scoring a number of well-worked tries to cap off a strong all-round display and finish the season on a real high.

Navan RFC would also like to thank Virginia for their hospitality and refreshments after the match, rounding off a thoroughly enjoyable day for players and supporters alike.

Attention now turns to an exciting overseas trip, as the squad travel to La Rochelle this Friday for their end-of-season tour.

The team will be based at Camping Sandaya Interlude and are set for a memorable experience. On Saturday morning, they will take on Stade Rochelais and other local sides before attending the senior TOP 14 fixture between La Rochelle and Union Bordeaux Bègles.

A fantastic opportunity awaits for this talented group as they round off their season.

Under 11 Boys

Navan RFC Under 11s fielded three teams at Balreask Old on Saturday as they hosted fixtures against Ardee RFC and Ratoath RFC in their final home games of the season.

Across all three matches, the squad displayed great energy and skill, continuing to build on their development with strong teamwork and positive attacking play.

With the home schedule now complete, attention turns to an exciting end to the season. The group will take part in three upcoming rugby festivals over the next two weekends, providing further opportunities for game time, learning and enjoyment.

A special thanks goes to all the parents and supporters who contributed to the post-match refreshments, with pizzas providing a perfect way to round off the day for the players.

The squad now looks forward to finishing the season strongly over the coming weeks.
