Man appears in court charged with assault causing harm at Navan bar

Two people appeared in custody at Navan District Court in connection with alleged incidents in Navan and Ashbourne.

Arturas Mauruca (36), with an address at Clonmagadden, Navan was charged with assault causing harm at The Watergate Bar and Kitchen, Watergate Street, Navan on 21st June last.

Detective Garda Conor McCluskey gave evidence of having arrested the accused at Blackcastle Demesne. He said he was taken to Navan Garda Station where he was charged. He was cautioned and made no reply to the caution. Judge Derek Cooney remanded him on €500 bail to appear at Trim District Court on 28th July next.

Conditions of bail include notification of change of address to the Gardai, not to contact any witnesses by any means, surrender his passport and not to apply for travel documents and sign on at a Garda station three times a week.

Separately, Shawna Moore (36) Huntsgrove, Ashbourne was charged with criminal damage of a hatch at Ashbourne Garda Station on 25th June last. It was alleged that she spat several times at the hatch. She was also charged with threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour and with intoxication in a public place. Garda Ulrike McKenzie gave evidence of arrest. She was remanded on bail back to Trim District Court next month.
