Meath LGFA launches club championships in Killeen Castle

Meath LGFA officially launched their Club Championships last Wednesday evening in the magnificent surroundings of Killeen Castle, bringing together players, club officers, sponsors and volunteers from across the county to mark the beginning of another exciting championship season.

Hosted by Davy Rispin, the event featured a special panel discussion showcasing different perspectives from within the game. Joining the panel was former Meath star Niamh O’Sullivan, current Meath senior player Emma Duggan of St Peter's Dunboyne, Meath senior coach Ellie Lane of Simonstown and Fiona O’Rourke formerly of Seneschalstown and now representing Skryne .

A major highlight of the evening was the championship draw for all 10 grades of competition, from SFC through to the newly introduced Junior H FC. The launch welcomed approximately 80 team captains, along with more than 80 club representatives including chairpersons, secretaries, PROs and other club officers from across Meath’s 48 clubs.

The event celebrated the continued growth and development of ladies’ football throughout the county. With participation levels continuing to rise and clubs going from strength to strength, the championship launch provided an opportunity to recognise the dedication of players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who contribute to the success of the game in Meath.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Meath LGFA spokesperson said the event reflects the strength of the association and the passion for ladies’ football that exists in every corner of the county.

The 2026 club championship promise another memorable season of competition, community spirit and sporting excellence as clubs across Meath begin their journey towards county honours.

The championship draws are: SFC: Group A - Navan O'Mahonys, Dee Rangers, Oldcastle, St Peter's Dunboyne; Group B - Dunshaughlin & Royal Gaels, Skryne, Seneschalstown, Donaghmore/Ashbourne.

IFC: Group A - Walterstown, Na Fianna, Summerhill, Simonstown Gaels; Group B - Boardsmill, St Ultan’s, St Colmcille’s, St Michael’s.

JFC: Group A - Ratoath, Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels B, Kilbride, Clann na nGael; Group B - St Peter's Dunboyne B, Moynalvey, Trim, St Patrick’s.

Junior B: Group A - Clonard, Dunsany, Carnaross, Navan O’Mahonys B; Group B - Blackhall Gaels, Moylagh/St Brigid's, Gaeil Colmcille, Wolfe Tones.

Junior C: Group A - Rathkenny, Drumbaragh, Simonstown B, Summerhill B; Group B - St Mary’s, Longwood, Na Fianna B, Duleek-Bellewstown.

Junior D: Group A - Bective, Slane, Dee Rangers B, Curraha / St Vincent’s; Group B - Trim B, Oldcastle B, St Colmcille's B, Donaghmore/Ashbourne.
