Woman left Navan shopping centre with €439 worth of groceries
A Ukrainian national was nabbed in the car park after pushing a trolley of goods out of Tesco supermarket at Navan Shopping Centre.
Aluna Bulash with an address at a guest accommodation was charged with the theft of €439 worth of groceries on 2nd August last year.
Trim District Court heard that the 39-year-old twice failed to appear to receive an adult caution in relation to the matter, and summonses was issued against her.
She was brought before the court on Thursday by way of a bench warrant. Her solicitor Teresa Coyle explained that she lived in Drogheda and had difficulty getting to Trim.
Miss Coyle said the defendant was in Ireland two years. She was under a lot of financial pressure at the time. A birthday was coming up. Some of the goods returned were her own that were in the shopping trolley.
Miss Coyle said it was due to the defendant’s own disorganisation that she didn’t attend at the Garda Station to avail of the adult caution.
Judge Peter White applied the probation of offenders act in the light of the defendant’s guilty plea, the goods were returned, the defendant’s previous clear record and she unfortunately didn’t take up the opportunity of an adult caution.
