Celebrating communities at the Navan Midsummer Festival 2026
This weekend, communities in Navan and across Meath will come together to mark the Navan Midsummer Festival and Glenveagh, one of Ireland’s leading homebuilders, is supporting the occasion. Taking place from Thursday, June 18th to Sunday, June 21st, the festival will celebrate the Boyne Valley, the Summer Solstice and Navan’s unique cultural and heritage offering.
Glenveagh, which has a strong presence in Navan and the wider county of Meath, is a proud supporter of the festival as it marks its first year. Developed by Meath County Council in partnership with local businesses and community groups, the Navan Midsummer Festival will celebrate the town’s heritage, creative energy and unique connection to the summer solstice while also recognising the best of Irish culture through music, food, craft and more.
The festival has a packed programme with over 40 events organised for attendees to enjoy. Atmospheric music performances will unfold across Navan’s town streets, outdoor spaces and select venues. Among the highlights will be “Illuminating Sounds” at St. Mary’s Church, where Ireland's premier female vocal ensemble Schola Hyberniae will treat attendees to a musical experience inspired by Irish manuscripts, medieval chant and the heritage of the Boyne Valley.
Comedy and storytelling will also take centre stage, with traditional Irish storytelling, an assorted line up of stand-up comedy, live podcasts and cultural conversations continuing throughout the festival.
Until Sunday, 28th June, the National Archives, in association with Meath County Archive, will present “The Story of Us: Independent Ireland and the 1926 Census Exhibition”, an exploration of the first census of the Irish Free State and a snapshot of a generation who lived through a major turning point of Ireland’s history at St Mary's Community Centre.
The festival will also host the Navan Midsummer Market with various food trucks, artisan producers, family entertainment and crafts available. The specially curated Navan Tapas Trail, in association with Boyne Valley Bites, promises to be a highlight and will bring visitors on a sensory tasting experience inspired by local Boyne Valley produce.
In line with the community focus of the festival, families are central to the programme, and several arts and crafts activities will be available for participants. Families and history lovers can participate in “The Big Dig with the School of Archaeology”, where children can excavate a Viking house and learn about the Boyne Valley history. A scavenger hunt and drop-in craft workshops will also be available over the weekend. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Boyne Valley through guided heritage walks, open-air yoga and the Annual Midsummer Walk at the Hill of Tara, which will also raise awareness of homelessness and support funding for the Simon Community.
Beyond being one of Ireland’s leading homebuilders, Glenveagh is a proud supporter of local communities nationwide. The company is centred on building more than just homes, but lasting communities that flourish and enrich the lives of both its residents and the local environment.
