Suspended sentence for theft
Ryan Cleary Canon Row Court, Canon Road, Navan was sentenced to a one month suspended term in jail for a shop lifting offence at Navan Shopping Centre.
The 29-year-old was charged with the offence at Regatta Great Outdoors on March 3 last.
Barrister Paul Noctor said the defendant, who was stated to have four previous convictions for thefts, had overdosed on the day.
The defendant was addicted to drugs. He was now in recovery and making great progress. He would like the opportunity to pay compensation.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan suspended the sentence for 18 months.
