Dunboyne College of Further Education officially opens new Clinical Skills Training Facility
Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training officially opened its new Clinical Skills Training Facility today, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of healthcare education and training in the region.
The facility was opened by Health Minister, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and Foreign Affairs Minister, Helen MacEntee.
The state-of-the-art training room reflects the college’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality, practical learning experiences aligned with the needs of Ireland’s health service according to Catherine Fox, Principal, Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training (DCFET).

The facility is equipped with advanced simulation technology, including high-specification training mannequins, enabling students to practise essential clinical and lifesaving skills in a safe, supervised environment. Through realistic scenarios, students can develop practical competence, communication, teamwork, and professional judgement—ensuring they are well prepared for the demands of real-world healthcare settings. The facility supports a wide range of programmes, including nursing studies, healthcare assistant training, allied health therapies, and pre-paramedic courses, helping to prepare students for diverse and rewarding careers in healthcare.
Speaking at the event, Martin O’Brien, Chief Executive Officer, Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) highlighted the strategic importance of facilities such as this in addressing growing healthcare demand. He noted that healthcare is one of Ireland’s fastest-growing and most skills-intensive sectors and emphasised the vital role of Further Education and Training in preparing job-ready graduates across a wide range of disciplines. He also pointed to the rapid population growth in the region and the corresponding increase in demand for healthcare services, underlining the importance of continued investment in education and training infrastructure.
