Chalk Talk Special: Oklahoma at St Oliver's!... Where are they now?

St Oliver’s National School holds a truly special place in my heart, and as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, I’m filled with gratitude for the memories it gave me.

The teachers were simply exceptional — Mr Howard, Mr Ludden, Mr Fox, Mr Ward, Miss Traynor, Nicky Nolan, and of course Marie in the office, who showed endless patience with us all.

It was also where I met some of my closest friends — friendships that have stood the test of time. Louise Talon, Karen Smith, Catherine Sheely, and Siobhan Mitchell remain my dearest friends to this day, along with many others I’m still lucky enough to meet regularly.

One of my most treasured memories is of the incredible school productions. From Oklahoma (left) to Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and Oliver Twist, the level of dedication and creativity from the teachers was extraordinary.

Those experiences sparked my lifelong love of music and performance, and undoubtedly shaped my path as a professional singer.

Years later, watching my own child stand on that very same stage was a full-circle moment I will never forget. In that moment, I truly understood just how special St Oliver’s is — not just as a school, but as a community.

I also hold very fond memories of Catherine Keane ‘Sally O Brien’ and the way she might look at you, a truly wonderful teacher whose kindness left a lasting impression on me.

From the small, thoughtful gifts (that I cherish to this day) and really didn't want to leave St Oliver’s, to the way she made each child feel seen and valued, she embodied everything that makes St. Oliver’s so unique.

St. Oliver’s is more than just a school, it’s a place where lifelong friendships are formed, talents are discovered, and memories are made that stay with you forever.
