Ballivor resident Deborah Keegan standing in the heart of the village badly in need of upgraded rioad and crossing safety measures

Design of Ballivor traffic calming measures underway

The design for traffic calming measures in Ballivor is currently being worked on, it was confirmed at last week's meeting of Trim Municipal District Council.

Cllr Dave Boyne asked for an update on the provision of ramps in Ballivor and was told that it is currently at the design stage before going out to tender and it wasn't possible to give a timescale at the moment but it is intended that they will be delivered this year.

The engineer outlined that they are not just looking at the crossing but also at ways to reduce speed on all approaches to the village.

Before Christmas, locals highlighted series concerns around the pedestrian crossing and an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle prompted a protest in the village on 30th December to highlight speed and safety issues and at the January meeting of Trim MD, Meath County Council gave a commitment to address issues at the pedestrian crossing in Ballivor village.
