Bank holiday Seafood Festival in Navan
Three nights of fishy feasting
This Bank Holiday weekend sees a three-night seafood festival at the Central Navan as part of the Boyne Valley Flavours Series, now in its 13th year.
A wide variety of fish will be on offer over the festival period with lots of fish favourites such as whole dover sole, native Irish lobster, Lombay Island crab, Carlingford oysters, hake, halibut and King Scallop.
Recommended wines will be available with seafood, shellfish and tailored dishes as well as fresh pre dinner aperitifs and hand made cocktails.
As always there will be live entertainment in the Vintage Lounge throughout the weekend with Navan Against the Machine on the line up for Saturday night and Focus on Sound duo on Sunday night
"Fresh fish is an increasingly popular choice among our diners and the fact that fish is known to be a healthy food option and low and fat and calories contributes to this trend," commented Central chef Carl Rennicks.
The Irish Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice a week as part of a healthy diet, he adds. Packed with protein, vitamins and nutrients fish can lower blood pressure and help reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.
