Health care centre plan for Ashbourne's High Street

A PLANNING application for a change of use of part of the multi-storey car park at High Street, Ashbourne, to a new two-storey primary health care centre has been granted planning permission by Meath County Council.

Star Stone Property Investments Limited sought permission for a development at Unit 37 ( former Eurogiant) and Unit 38 (Former New Look) which also includes the change of use and subdivision of existing commercial mezzanine floor at Level 1 to commercial non-medical office use, and leisure/recreation uses.

The application sought permission for the change of use of 1,508sqm of car park on levels 2.5 and 3.5 of the multi-storey car park to a new two storey primary health care centre to include demolition of the existing car park roof over level 3.5, removal of internal staircases)and part removal of floors to levels 2.5 and 3.5 of the multi-storey car park to provide for a new courtyard at level one with two storey void overhead.

It provides for the construction of a new two storey 1,325sqm primary health care centre at levels 2.5 and 3.5 (including a single storey extension/additional floor at level 3.5 and new pedestrian access from car park level 3.5) to include consulting rooms, offices, ancillary accommodation / toilets and the construction of new 53sqm two storey extension to the side north gable elevation at ground and first floor levels to provide new entrance and fire escape at ground floor and circulation/stairs.

A change of use and subdivision of 705sqm of existing commercial mezzanine floor at Level 1 to commercial office use (non-medical), and 505sqm to leisure/ recreation uses also forms part of the plans.

A total of 70 existing car parking spaces are allocated for primary healthcare consultation rooms/leisure recreation uses and 28 existing car parking spaces for the proposed office use in the existing attached multi-storey car park.
