Ashbourne woman had no recollection of threatening garda

A 39 year-old woman from Ashbourne threatened a garda and said “I will f**k your family up and find you and kill you.”

Orla Staunton of Milltown Meadows in the town told Judge Ciaran Liddy she had no recollection of the incident. She had alcohol issues having had a relapse after five years in recovery.

She appeared before Trim District Court on Thursday charged with using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace on 9th March last at Navan Shopping Centre.

The defendant apologised for her behaviour.

She explained that a family matter “kind of got on top of me.” When questioned by the Judge about what she said to the garda, the defendant said it was “out of character.”

Court presenter, Sergeant Declan Brady said the defendant had 20 previous convictions which included public order offences.

Judge Liddy convicted and fined the defendant €350 on the threatening, abusive and insulting charge.
