Lithuanian national pleads guilty to drink driving
A 38-year-old Lithuanian national stated to suffer with alcohol addiction pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving.
This resulted in Neringa Luksiene of Ferndale, Navan receiving a two year driving ban, and being fined €105.
The defendant faced a total of eight summonses for mainly motoring offences. A charge of dangerous driving was withdrawn, and in respect of insurance taken into consideration and other matters struck out by Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Trim District Court on Thursday.
The case arose on 18th November 2024 from the defendant’s driving at a townland in Slane.
He provided a breath sample which showed an alcohol reading of 51.
Court Presenter Sergeant Peter Clarke said that the defendant had 13 previous convictions, none relating to the road traffic act.
Separately, a 23 year old man was banned from driving for four years.
Heyhorh Chernei, Knockbrack Close, Drogheda was also fined €300 when convicted for a motor insurance offence. Trim District Court heard on Tuesday last that the defendant was previously convicted for driving without insurance.
