Dog poo bag dispensers installed in Athboy

Meath County Council has installed two dog poo bag dispensers in Athboy.

The dispensers were installed following a motion tabled by Cllr Mike Bray at a Kells Municipal District meeting last year. The proposal was originally raised with him by local resident Alma Kennedy McClorey.

“Dog fouling on footpaths and in public areas is one of the most regular issues raised with me by constituents,” said Cllr Bray.

“Over the past year in particular, I have noticed an increase in complaints, which is why I brought this motion forward.

“I want to thank the Council for purchasing and installing the dispensers, and a special word of thanks to Athboy Tidy Towns for agreeing to refill and monitor them and also to Alma."

The dispensers are located in Athboy on Main Street at the Medical Centre and at Thornton’s Garden at the Coille Dios junction.
