Clann na nGael bid for bonus silverware
LEINSTER CLUB JFC PREVIEW
Plenty of champions have been crowned in Pairc Tailteann over the last few weeks. Plenty of post-match interviews have been conducted, but there was no one as emotional on the Navan pitch over the last month as Tomas Doyle after Clann na nGael won the Meath JFC.
Doyle gave a very heartwarming interview to the media following the club's final success over St Vincent’s. He spoke to the media about what the club had been through and what it meant to get over the line in the JFC.
At the end of the interview it was put to Doyle that 'we’ll see you in Leinster,' and a sudden realisation came over the corner forward's face that the journey was not over yet.
Similar to their Meath intermediate compatriots Kilbride, Clann na n Gael have been dealt a relatively nice draw against Kilkenny’s Glenmore in the opening round of the Leinster JFC on Saturday in Pairc Tailteann, 1.30pm.
Kilkenny sides have a really poor record in the competition and they generally don’t get past the first round. In contrast, Meath sides have a decent record in the Leinster JFC and teams from the county have won the title a record 11 times, including Castletown just two years ago. Clann na nGael lost out in the final in 2019 by a point to Wexford's Rathgarogue-Cushinstown.
Clann na nGael are a very strong outfit and they will be a force to be reckoned with in the Meath IFC in the years to come.
They have some very strong attacking threats in the likes of Tomas Doyle, Darragh Swaine and Ben Corkery and at the back they are very solid.
Clann na nGael will have too much in hand for Glenmore and they should get over the line in comfortable fashion.
