Mulhussey win on points in thrilling 18-goal feast

GIRLS DIV 5 FINAL

In this goal-fest bonanza Girls Div 5 final at Trim last Wednesday, Mulhussey’s points tally proved to be the difference between the sides as they won 9-9 to 9-2.

The scoreboard reflected what was a very entertaining contest and at the forefront of it were two players in particular, one from either side. Ruby Farrell amazingly scored eight goals for Kilskyre but her incredible performance was only just bettered by that of Holly Fagan who finished with 7-6 for the eventual winners.

Four Farrell goals, three of which came within an amazing one-minute spell, catapulted Kilskyre into a 4-0 to 1-3 lead after only 10 minutes. The second quarter was dominated by Fagan and she scored 2-3 between the 14th and 20th minute to keep her side in touch. Another Farrell goal and one from Emma Lyndon, which Farrell assisted, handed Kilskyre a half-time lead of 6-0 to 3-6.

Farrell’s sixth goal, and her sides seventh, left Kilskyre trailing by six points with 10 minutes remaining. It was Mulhussey though who finished strongest and Fagan hit 1-2 in the last two minutes which ensured her side victory in this cracking Div 5 decider.
