Liam Curtis from Gleesons Butchers greets Catherine Connelly in Navan Town Centre

Catherine Connolly tours the Royal County

The Independent Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly drew a big crowd as she stopped off at Trim, Navan, and Ashbourne for her tour of Meath.

Catherine Connolly started her trip at Trim Family Resource Centre before arriving at Navan Shopping centre earlier this morning greeted by a large crowd.

Supporters, shoppers, and workers alike greeted the candidate as she walked through the shopping centre. She was shown a variety of different stores that make their home in the centre along and Tesco store workers were even able to have a chat with her outside the store entrance.

Catherine said it was “fantastic” seeing all her supporters in the royal county and said she thinks “It’s very important that they come out and vote.”

“People have a stark choice in this junction and we need a voice in the presidency with courage and with the Irish language and to reflect the values that we hold dear as a people and I look on my campaign that has drawn people together.”

“We don’t agree on everything. We have Sinn Fein, Social Democrats, Labour, the Greens, and non-parties behind us and I think that is a testimony to the people’s desire for a different country and a country that puts our values first. I think it’s historical what we’ve achieved together. It is a start of a movement, not just for this presidency but for the next election as well.”

Following her Navan visit, she made her next stop at Youthreach in Ashbourne and finished off her trip for the day by meeting Ashbourne women’s shed members at Ashbourne house hotel.
