Trim Celtic move towards League of Ireland status

Hopes of a League of Ireland club in Meath took a giant leap forward this week with Trim Celtic submitting an application to join the proposed FAI National League (Tier 3) which is set to be launched next year.

The FAI’s National League aims to bridge the gap between amateur and professional football in Ireland, offering a structured pathway for clubs like Trim Celtic to compete at a national level.

With a proven legacy and a history dating back to 1967, Trim Celtic has been a cornerstone of Meath football, competing in the North East Football League (formerly the MDL), Leinster Junior Cup, Leinster Senior Cup, and the FAI Junior Cup, with victory in the 2023 Leinster Junior Cup.

In the community Trim Celtic are active in youth development (nursery, pathways for both female and male players, Summer Soccer Camps) and local groups and organisations.

“This is a transformative opportunity for Trim Celtic AFC and Meath football. We believe our community-focused ethos and on-field potential make us ideal candidates to contribute to the FAI’s pyramid structure,” said a Trim Celtic spokesman.
