Cumann na mBunscol Finals Bright start helps Moynalvey
DIV 3 HURLING - Moynalvey NS 3-8 Boardsmill NS 1-5
When a team is on their game, in the zone, it is very difficult to stop them and that proved to be case in this Div 3 Hurling final at Trim on Friday.
Moynalvey NS were the team who were very much in the zone from the start, a fact demonstrated in the way they found the net in the opening minute, their goal scored by James Byrne who went on to help himself to 2-2.
He was only surpassed on the scoring front by his fellow captain James Hanifin who hit 1-6. Their colleagues didn't manage to get on the scoresheet but they all performed their tasks with diligence and determination. No team is a one-man or even two-man show. It takes many others and Moynalvey's success was certainly a combined effort with starters and subs all contributing in one way or another.
Boardsmill fought bravely but they seemed really rocked by the concession of that early goal and never managed to get themselves in front. The dimensions of the challenge they faced could be seen in the way they trailed 0-5 to 2-5 at the interval.
Tadgh Gibney was a very prominent figure for Boardsmill and he ended up with 1-1 his goal a brilliantly struck effort. Paudie Reilly and Tadhg Dempsey were other prominent figures for them, that reality underlined in the way they helped themselves to two points apiece.
Moynalvey won all their games on the way to the final and they hurled in this contest like a team full of confidence and assured of their destiny. Boardsmill battled bravely throughout. They were just edged out in this contest by slick opponents who know how to win.
