Tormey pounces late to secure silverware for Donaghmore/Ashbourne

Defending is an admirable art, but it was only when a game of football broke out in the final quarter of tonight's lacklustre Feis Cup final that Donaghmore/Ashbourne capitalised on a huge stroke of luck to claim the first piece of silverware of the season with a 1-10 to 0-9 victory over hosts Simonstown.

There was little in the way of excitement to warm the small crowd in Simonstown until the closing stages when Sean Tyrell's short point attempt was spilled by Robbie Burlingham and Andy Tormey pounced to fire the rebound to the net.

New school build delays in Meath raised in the Dail

Delays in the new school building programme for Co Meath were raised in the Dail last week.

The lack of progress on new school buildings for Dunshaughlin, Stamullen, Dunboyne and Lismullen was raised by Deputy Darren O'Rourke who asked why they were not proceeding at the pace they were intended to.

Minutes count for Navan councillor as referendum nod gets included in council record

A MEATH county councillor has expressed relief that her expression of congratulations to those who voted ‘No No’ in the recent Family and Care Referendum will be recorded in the minutes of the recent Navan Municipal District meeting.

Cllr Emer Tóibín had previously voiced her incredulity that Meath Co Council had said it might not be possible to record it, saying she found this to be most unorthodox and unprecedented.

Warning over illegal waste collections as mattresses, pillows, chairs and tyres found dumped in Duleek

Meath Co Council has warned the public of an illegal waste collector operating in East Meath.
