On the road... Cillian O'Connor

Mornington magician trick and treat tour

The young Mornington magician who came third in this year’s Britain Got’s Talent has announced that he is bringing his first ‘World of Magic’ tour to venues across the UK and Ireland next year.

Cillian O’Connor (14), wowed the judges in his auditions on BGT with his impressive magic tricks, heroically overcoming Autism and Dyspraxia to get a standing ovation from the audience and celebrity judges.

The Drogheda Grammar school student tugged on the heart strings with his story of how performing magic had helped him overcome the social awkwardness that came with his autism and brought the judges to tears.

Now Cillian is set to bring his own live show on tour with dates due to be announced soon for Dublin, Belfast and a venue locally.

Joining Cillian on tour will be Ryland Petry from America’s Got Talent. Although the magic maestro said he couldn’t give too much away about what audiences could expect he promised that it would be “ a performance to remember.” He added:

"It will be bigger and better than Britain’s Got Talent. We are coming up with ideas and the moment and trying out different things, it’s very exciting,” he said.

“Before I started doing magic, my social skills and my fine motor skills were a lot poorer but magic was kind of a lifeline for me. Now with my tour I’m able to bring people into my world and them believe in magic,”he added.

In more exciting news, the Mornington teen is also hoping to be a finalist in “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League, a spin off of the popular talent competition. The show will be aired on NBC next year and will feature Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. 60 acts from previous TV talent shows are vying to make the final 40 with Cillian being one of the hopefuls.

Cillian also got to the National Reality Television Awards where BGT won best reality television competition show of 2023 and even got to keep the trophy!

Proud mum, Elaine says her talented son’s determination has paid off in more ways than one.

"Both myself are husband are extremely proud of Cillian, stuff like this just doesn’t happen,” she said. "He was sending in audition videos to Britain’s Got Talent since 2018, what everyone saw on that stage was the results of years of hard work and effort and to finally get his moment I think that was the emotion that everybody saw. He finally got his dream.

"He is doing so many interviews now and is well able to answer the questions and have a conversation which is helping him in everyday life. It has been like a therapy, he just loves performing. It has been a long journey, this didn’t happen overnight. Seeing the joy in his face when he performs is unbelievable."
