Night-time water restrictions in Trim are lifted

Works at plant are completed

Night-time water restrictions in Trim and surrounding areas have been lifted by Uisce Éireann following the successful completion of remedial works at the Trim Water Treatment Plant.

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience that the nightly water restrictions have caused for customers in Trim and surrounding areas, and extends sincere appreciation to residents for their understanding and conservation efforts during this period.

Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann said: “Following operational issues at the plant, specialist equipment to upgrade the filtration system was successfully installed. As a result, reservoir levels have recovered well.

“We understand the inconvenience the restriction had on our customers, and we would like to thank them for their conservation efforts.”

To secure a reliable water supply for the long term for Trim, Uisce Éireann is actively working on a major upgrade to the Trim Water Treatment Plant. This upgrade includes a range of improvement measures aimed at addressing ongoing operational issues, meet demand, enhance resilience, and ensuring that the drinking water supplied meets all requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations.

Uisce Éireann has recently submitted a planning application to carry out these upgrade works. Subject to necessary consents and procurement, it is envisaged that construction works will commence in 2024.

The Trim Water Treatment Plant has been in operation in Scurlogstown since 1997, providing over 10,000 customers in the town and the environs with drinking water.
