Hunt for man impersonating garda continues

The search for men claiming to be gardaí and calling to the homes of elderly folk is continuing after a reported incident in the Mountnugent last week.

On Wednesday, March 29, at around 11:15am, the male called to the home of an elderly couple in the Mountprospect area, near Mountnugent football pitch.

Gardaí say the male was “impersonating” a plainclothes officer and that he asked the home owners “if they had lost any money with the intention of the home owner going to check their cash. Thankfully this male did not gain access to the house and left the scene”.
