Silver for Gaffney at World Masters

After a wonderful few days of running Edel Gaffney, Trim AC claimed a silver medal in the 8km cross country race at the World Masters in Torun in Poland.

She led home a very strong Irish squad which included Aoife Parella (Star of the Sea AC) and Longford's Fiona Getttings.

Less than 48 hours after her cross country heroics Gaffney ran a wonderful 36.12 to claim the bronze medal in the W35 category of the 10km to round off a very satisfying pair of performances for her.

Gaffney is an exceptional talent whose application and dedication has been rewarded with a winter of great masters athletics' successes in the green singlet of Ireland which began in November with her debut at the masters international cross country in Santry.
