Flexibus announce new hospital appointment drop-off service

The Local Link Flexibus service is introducing a new hospital appointment service, starting Monday 3rd April that will service Navan Hospital and the Dublin hospitals.

This service will run Monday to Friday, bringing patients to hospitals in Navan and Dublin, with the following pick up points: Lidl, Trim; 7.15am, Athboy Church Car Park; 7.25am, Kells bus stop; 7.35am, Navan Hospital 7.50am, Ross Cross, 8am; Dunshaughlin, 8.15am, Ratoath, 8.35am and Ashbourne at 8.45am. The bus will drop off at all public hospitals in the city.

Seats are limited so the service must be booked in advance.

The bus will not reach Dublin hospitals until at least 9am or 9.30am so users are advised to make the clinic they are attending aware of this.

The pick up for return service is at 12.30 approximately.

The bus will not pickup door to door, but at the allocated pick up points, but wheelchair users will continue to be picked up at home.

After your appointment, you will be picked up at the hospital, and dropped home to your house.

The return journey will take longer than the morning service but it will ensure everyone gets home safe and sound.

The service costs €10 and the patient may bring one person with them for the appointment.

Patients are asked to contact the service when they get their appointment to book their seat on the bus at 1800 303 707 or (046) 907 4830.

The Mayor of Navan, Cllr Eddie Fennessy said; "The provision of this service by Flexibus is a lifeline for people who don't drive and need to attend hospital appointments and at €10 return it is great value for anyone in need of access to medical care in Dublin.

"The county is well served with pick up points in each of the large urban centres. From my own perspective, the local pick up point is Navan Hospital, I urge anyone who needs assistance getting to that pick up point to contact me for help."

Cllr Damien O'Reilly welcomed the service. He said he would like to see Dunboyne added to the pick up points. "I also hope that the service will go to Connolly Hospital which is the main hospital for a lot of south Meath ," he said.
