Oldbridge House conservation plan nears completion

News that the long awaited conservation plan for Oldbridge House is nearing completion has been welcomed by Louth and East Meath TD Fergus O'Dowd, who said it will essentially decide the future development of the facility.

The Fine Gael TD said that in November 2021, he met with the then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney TD, the Minister for the OPW, Patrick O’Donovan TD and OPW officials in Oldbridge House to discuss how the facility might develop into the future.

“At the time we discussed the opportunity for the facility and its historical grounds to become a key meeting point for North South activities considering its historical prevalence and strategic position midway between Dublin and Belfast.

“I’m delighted to see that the OPW and the Shared Island are progressing this concept.

“I also welcome the news that the long awaited conservation plan is close to completion as this will essentially decide the future development of the facility.

“I firmly believe that Oldbridge can become an international destination for visitors which will not only drive tourism but will also create welcome additional employment opportunities.”
