Gardaí at Navan are investigating the incident which occurred around 5.30am on Saturday at St Finian's Terrace.

Three cars were destroyed by the blaze and three more suffered scorch marks from the heat. The incident occurred at the end of the terrace in a cul de sac laneway.

Cllr Eddie Fennessy described the incident as shocking,

"St. Finian's Terrace is one of the quietest residential areas in Navan, what happened has come as a huge shock to the local community.

"The vehicles were parked up behind some houses and if it wasn't for the vigilance of one particular resident who raised the alarm, the damage could have been so much worse.”
