Weir's team get off to winning start

The trip to Newbridge proved fruitful for Meath when they defeated Kildare 0-18 to 0-15 in NHL Div 2A today.

Jack Regan showed the way for the Royals with 13 points for his team to provided the platform for victory.

Playing with a gale-force wind in the opening half Meath led 0-13 to 0-5 at the break despite shooting 11 wides.

As expected Meath were under considerable pressure in the second-half but some stout defending helped them contain the home team.

James Kelly hit two fine points for Meath while David Reilly, Mark O'Sullivan and Stephen Morris also pointed.

The bulk of Kildare's scores were bagged by David Qualter who hit seven points.
